Antoine Simard

Antoine Simard studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Saguenay where he obtained a postgraduate diploma in double bass interpretation in 2009. He was principal double bassist for the Baie-Comeau String Orchestra and was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2007 and 2008. He has performed in several improvised music contexts: as one of the founding members of the Saguenay Musical Improvisation League and also at the Festival des Musiques de Création and the Centre d'Expérimentation Musicale. Antoine also collaborates to the Saguenay cultural scene through his association with the Bar à Pitons where he has performed at the Jazz and Scotch evenings which have presented nearly 200 jazz concerts since the fall of 2010.
