Privacy policy CEM

CEM (“we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect on cem.studio and its festival sites (FMC, Contrechamp), why we collect it, who we share it with and what your rights are, under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

For any question, request for access, correction or deletion, or to withdraw your consent, write to us at this address.

Information we collect

  • Contact forms: name, email address and your message, so we can answer you.
  • Newsletter: email address (and name, if you provide it), so we can send you our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.
  • User accounts (artists, partners and staff): name, email address and profile information, to manage access to the site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see the section below. Advertising cookies and external content are only turned on with your consent.
  • Server logs: IP address, date and time, pages visited and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and external services

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept, refuse or customize the use of cookies. Only what is essential is on by default. You can change your choices at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Sharing and hosting outside Quebec

We use the following providers, which may process your information outside Quebec:

  • Google (reCAPTCHA, Google Ads) and Meta (Pixel): United States.
  • Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) for the newsletter: United States.
  • Website and newsletter (Listmonk) hosting: HostHatch LLC, New York, United States.

Before sharing information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be adequately protected there, as Law 25 requires.

Retention

  • Contact form messages: they are not stored on the site. They are sent to us by email and kept as long as needed to answer you.
  • Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
  • User accounts: until you or CEM ask for the account to be deleted.
  • Server logs: one year at most.

Information is then destroyed or anonymized.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information (encrypted HTTPS connection, restricted access, encrypted backups). If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people concerned and the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Your rights

At any time, you can:

  • ask to access the information we hold about you;
  • ask for it to be corrected or deleted;
  • withdraw your consent (cookies: “Cookie settings” link; newsletter: unsubscribe link);
  • file a complaint with our person in charge, then, if needed, with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

We answer requests within 30 days.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. If the changes affect cookies, the banner will ask you to review your choices.
