Originally from Jonquière in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area, Mathieu Létourneau started playing drums in his late teens. A craze for improvisation manifested itself at the very beginning of his apprenticeship. After graduating from Alma College in music, he completed a bachelor's degree and then a graduate diploma specialized in Jazz Interpretation and Composition at the University of Sherbrooke. Back in his native region, Mathieu is active in several styles of music, but it is when nothing is planned that he is most comfortable. He has played with several musicians and ensembles, notably Matthieu Bélanger, Frank Lozano, Robert Pelletier, L'Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and Heavy Mental Quartet. A very dynamic drummer, he will surprise you with his change of intensity and his creativity.
