Ce qui reste quand la peau se détache du corps

The Centre d’Expérimentation Musicale and the Centre Bang are pleased to present the fruit of two years of work by multidisciplinary artists Sara Létourneau and Chantale Boulianne.

THE PROJECT

"Ce qui reste quand la peau se détache du corps"* is a hybrid and sensitive project that highlights the manipulation of sound objects imagined, developed and designed by the artist duo. In a context of research and exploration on the moving body, they develop a common language that plays with the acoustic properties of matter as well as their scenographic potential. At the crossroads of performance, sound art and installation, this creation will be presented in an immersive environment, on an 8-speaker multiphonic system.

* means "What remains when the skin detaches from the body"

BIOGRAPHIES

Sara Létourneau works in visual arts, music, performance art, video and theatre. Her practice is characterized by its hybridity as well as by her frequent collaborations with other creators. An unclassifiable artist, she seeks to create bridges between disciplines. In these interstices, she highlights the sensitive and the invisible. The performative is always very present in his practice. She plays with symbols and myths in order to develop new ways of thinking and telling the world. Since 2006, she has presented her work in several museums, artist centers, galleries, performance halls, festivals and fairs in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia in more than a hundred different productions.

Chantale Boulianne is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about gesture and movement. For 25 years, she has exposed the testing of the body. For her, the experience of the body in motion is a point of convergence linking the different layers constituting the corporeality of each one. She tries to articulate a passage between the body as an instrument of experience of the world and the body as a medium of expression. After studying music, Chantale turned to visual arts, design and scenography. She has worked in more than thirty stage projects, including several with a strong interdisciplinary content. At the same time, she has presented her work in the visual arts in Quebec on several occasions.
