Originally from Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Ovide Coudé - blind by birth - has been playing the guitar since the age of 10, in addition to touching a range of stringed instruments such as the mandolin, the banjo, the bass and the oud. Virtuoso guitarist whose compositions reveal jazz influences sometimes recalling the cold and atmospheric sounds of European jazz (ECM), he is at the head of the Ovide Coudé Quartet, whose musical colours are printed in an eponymous first album, released at the Festival de Jazz et Blues de Saguenay in April 2018.
As a songwriter, he is currently developing his lyrics as a lyricist by writing folksongs. As an interpreter, he played among others with the Ensemble Mosaïque during a tour in India, with the Quatuor Saguenay as part of a double quartet project (jazz and string quartets), as well as with the folk music group Chassepareil. He will also join the Blueberry Grassband in the summer of 2018, where the group will present their high-flying musicalacts at Epcot theme park, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
A long time professional musician, he enrolled in 2018 in the B.A. jazz performance program at Laval University to refine his training.
